So, essentially you are saying that fun must be restricted to sports cars, and those sports cars are not allowed to also be practical?
Should Alfas be restricted to sports cars also? Style isn't neccesary in a practical car!
I say each to their own: a FWD car can still be fun, but I don't believe in the exasperation of models that are born (chassis, engine, layout) to be saloons.
A sports car won't ever be as practical as a saloon, and this unfortunately will never change unless we start a new era of powerplants and materials.
Car performance is a short blanket: you need to cover something by uncovering something else
Alfa should proceed along a double path: a line of cars which winks at sports (i.e. a lighter Brera with RWD) and medium or big saloons, where it can give the best in terms of design and comfort, but with a touch of crazy innovations. Who remembers the Alfa 33 4x4 Station Wagon or the Alfa 75? Unique cars with an incredible character!
those formats belong to the past, they should concentrate on working for new projects from the chassis up! But then again Alfa is part of Fiat nowadays, and they need to take care of one thing first: saving money and brand.
