Air Con re-charge....don't wait too long.....

My warning sign for a low air con system was asthmatic/wheezing sound that came form behind the dash when the air con buttin was pressed. This also had a slight metallic clattering with it, I was worried that the clutch on the compressor was on its way out.

So, called a local air-con specialist that I have used several times before, he came out today and confirmed the thought that the system was low. Phew. He re-egased and oiled the system back to standard pressure.

He also warned that if the pressure had dropped much further then the compressor would have been put under severe strain, causing a possible failure and associated problems. As the compressor is on the cam belt, DONT LET THIS HAPPEN!!

So anyone having the same noises, get it checked out. Cost me 40. Well worth the money in my book.

Just thought I would pass this nugget on for fellow 159/Brera owners.

Moved over to the dark side

And loving it

I've just been experiencing exactly the same noises wynne describes and had them cured by an aircon re-gas during a service.

I fully endorse what he says!

Yes, and there is a low pressure switch as well to prevent it working without a charge, the compressor has an electric clutch that disengages it from the drive belt.
