Brera Service Indicator

I recently had my 07 brera serviced by a non-alfa garage but used alfa parts (as i belived this was required to keep the warranty) but they could not turn off/reset the service indicator light and the "change engine oil" warning light that came on after 18000 miles.

As far as i can tell, only alfa sevice centres can do this. Has anyone been able to do it without going to alfa?

Also, when i have spoke to the alfa garages, one is now saying that they cannot reset the service indicator without doing the service themselves. While that does makes sense (to make sure the car is actually being serviced), it supprised and annoyed me a bit as it would mean waiting till the next service is due to have the lights turned off.

Has anyone got any info/help suggestions on this?

I know the service has been done now but i would advise going to an independant Alfa specialist, most of these guys have the software to reset the system. I would try and find an independant who would turn off the service reminder for a few quid.

hope you get it sorted.

As per Graham's comments, best to look around for independent Alfa specialists who can reset this. Do Breras & 159s use Alfadiag?

Thumbs Up

Always use a decent indie or someone that has the tools for the job.

My Ti had its 2nd service on Saturday for 181 inc. a full clear underbody waxoiling

Intaservices have full Examiner facilities and some fantastic snap on kit which they used on mine. Autolusso have the same. I rate both really highly

FYI, seemingly, the 2.2 doesn't have an oil degredation sensor

Hi, Thanks for the advice

I think in the future i'll go to an alfa specialist to save on the hassle. and will have a look round for one to get the lights turned off.

Not sure about the alfadiag? what is this?

Also, not sure about the 2.2 oil sensor, mine is the 2.4JTDM and it just has a a msg that came on at 18k saying 'change engine oil'

Thanks again for the help
