159 ti - dead after servicing!

normally a lurker but have found the tyre wear and ARUK process very useful.
had my black 2.2 Ti from new (2 years, 1 month) and at the first dealership service they managed to kill the car for 4 weeks, leaving me with a courtesy car. Finally solved the issue and 12 months excellent motoring.
however, due to year 1 service problems I went to an indie I've known for years who bought in the 35k alfa service kit and did it for 90 less than the dealer and saved me a 60 mile round trip.
A few days later the car is dead, no click when putting the key in the ignition (same as year 1 fault)

AA got me going (twice) but all the battery tests, shut down and on board computer checks seemed fine so it's going back to the dealer on Monday...but i dont want another 4 week nightmare!

Anyone else had this problem? It only seems to manifest itself AFTER a service, which is bizarre and also frustraing...without the service the warranty is invalid!! Due to year 1 problems I do have a 4 year dealer warranty rather than 3 years.

I just have long term worries about the reliability of this car and what happens at the end of 2011!!

any help appreciated.

I would think the logical first step is to ask how the dealer sorted it the first time ?

I very much doubt that this is a common problem - I've never heard of it before
