Tyre issue 159 sw- almost lost it on round about ??
I was driving on an A road last Saturday and was approaching a roundabout in third gear, speed not excessive (wife on board). As I tried to exit the bend the car juddered/slid towards the far side of the roundabout. It was drizzling and a bit wet on the road surface but no sign of standing water, luckily I was not going too fast and managed to correct the slide. Needless to say it frightened the bejaysus out of me, I tried all weekend to replicate the slide on other roundabouts but everything seemed ok.
Is this a tyre issue- my tyres (17 inch , 225, 50) are a cheap Chinese brand put on by the previous owner, they are called Fullrun and have a nice tread pattern but show excessive wear on the edges. I have searched on the internet for them and have not come up with much only that they cost about £50 a shot- I know you get what you pay for ! Theres still quite a bit of tread left in them so it should not have been a tyre wear issue.
If any one out there has had a similar lowish speed loss of control on exiting a roundabout then do let me know.
Lastly I know its been done to death but i am still none the wiser as to what tyres I should replace my cheap chinese ones for. Pirellis seemed the obvious choice but loads of you seem to think they just dont last. Any advice would be appreciated.
