how to remove the head unit from our 159/Brera?

I know that it's through the 4 holes on both sides of the head unit, but is there anywhere to find the two hook tools for it or maybe make it myself? I could go to the Alfa Romeo dealer for it, but I want to work on my car in peace and when I have time for it.

They can be picked up for next to nothing via eBay, search for 'blaupunkt removal keys'

I gave up with the bits of wire coat hanger after stabbing myself a few times...

The answer is carefully as you can easily damage the allow face plate. You can buy the hooked tools from Halfords.

Ebay, Halfords, anywhere really - if youre in a rush, and dont want to risk a coathanger....try 4 cotton buds with the fluff removed, that usually works too.

Although I do have the keys!

Bought the keys from a local spares place, 2 quid.

But the unit was pretty stiff in the facia. Try not to prize the unit from the bottom section, use the top half to wedge out. The unit has a flimsy lower section, only there to hold the buttons.

And do watch the surround, it is very very easy to mark, trust me, I know!

It is like a single DIN fitting with a double DIN front end, if you know what I mean...
