hi and thanks for the info so far in this thread. i'm having some problems with my 98 GTV Ts it does have none standard 19inch wheels. i got the car back from the garage a couple of days ago following total rear powerflexing. the car feels so much better its great, like a different car. the problem i'm having is that i suspect something has changed to the front end as now when i'm going between 65 and 75mph i'm getting quite a noticable steering wheel shake (it was there before the powerflexing between 60 and 65mph but it was not as noticable. I did put it down to the rear bushes being worn, and the car crabbing and driving like a pig. It does also have the tell tale inside tyrewear on the front from before powerflexing). Then yesterday when i pulled up in Asda car park there was a burning rubber type smell coming from the front drivers tyre area, added to this was the fact that front tyres were extremely hot to the touch. i'm sure this problem wasnt there before powerflexing and was hoping i could get some advice from you guys as to what to do next.
Do I get the car balenced, alligned, tracked or is it the geometry i need to be getting sorted?
I know that someone has said previously that different places say different thing for basically the same service but now i'm slightly confussed.
As you can probably tell i'm not too clued up on car issues, i phoned ATS today and they just told me to go to a main dealer as soon as i said the words "powerflex" and "rear suspension", which being a mature student sounds financially horriffic.
My mechanic said he wasnt sure where anywhere local did allignment and now i'm a bit stuck. I live in a small village in rossendale so does anybody know of anywhere in the east lancs area where i can take the car to have this problem resolved?.
Thanks in advance, Pete.
