My car had a new clutch and fly wheel at 54K, done by previous company owner. I called Magletnestoni (or whatever they are called!!) and they confirmed it had been done.
If you read the Saabscene forum, do a search for dual mass flywheel on the 9-3 forum you will see there have been quite a few issues with this. Slipping clutches and the like causing drive train issues on the 150 tid. Maybe the set up in the 159 is slightly different? We don't seem to have anywhere as many compaints in this area.
Regarding the Alfa experience, I came from many, many years of Saab ownership to Alfa in June this year. The 9-5s I had were brilliant, almost fault free for 100Ks of miles, but the 9-3SS was a very different story! I think it boils down to owning/buying a lemon rather than a generic reliability issue across a range.
Hope you get your car sorted, a huge shame to have a less than great ownership experience in the 159.
