I have had a slow puncture on the front nearside for a few weeks now, have put off gettin git sorted as the tyre could be managed with a trip to the pump every few days and the tyres were low anyway.
So, drew breath on Saturday and went to get it sorted.
The nail was nicely embedded in the centre of the tread, just a small one mind.
The first tyre place wanted to sell me some extra load (97W) Bridgestones at £125 each, eventually dropped to £110 each.
Went for a second opion at a local service garage/tyre place and ended up getting a pair of Toyo TR1s fitted and the tracking done (it was only quarter a degree out) for £175.
He checked the pressures all round and did a utterly professional job.
As for the drive, well, the mpg was up slightly on a Brum to Bristol trip on Sunday and the grip has massively improved. Great tyres so far, am a happy bunny.
He did the tracking with me sat in the car, is this normal?
And he and the Alfa user guide say I don't need extra load with the 16 inch wheel. I hope they are both right! So I ended up with a pair of 215/55/16 93Ws.
Right, where is a the nearest set of corners.....
Only bad news out of it was that the pads and discs are low on the front. The lip on the disc is pretty bad, they are form new and it has 67200 miles on now. Second set of front pads on.
Time to get the wallet out again....
