Did this get sorted, if so what was the problem
Ah, yes... time for an update....
Since my last post, the car has been back to the dealers (Mango's) and apparently it should not
make that noise and they believe the noise is is due to the bearings in the rear diff being shot
This is a car less than 2 years old with 10k on the clock. However, I am beginning to suspect that my car has been stored for the last 11 months as there is evidence to suggest it has only done around 60 miles in the last year!! But that is another story, although I feel it may explain some of the problems...
They also think that the drive line shunt is down to the diff problem. Currently we are waiting for a replacement diff to be delivered from Italy so I cannot yet report that this has cured the problem. More news on that when the work is done.
On another matter, I also reported to the dealer that the driver's seat was rocking (reported on this forum on another thread). Apparently this is quite common and the cure is some replacement bushes. Mine had already had the bush replacement so now it needs a whole new base frame at an eye watering £1200
That together with the new diff meant that the warranty claim was so high that Mango's had to go back to Alfa directly for approval as it was over their own approval limit. Yes, Alfa agreed.
