Well I picked up my Brera from Mango's on Friday...
It was quite a long visit there as I had wait whilst the salesman Jason went to the DVLA to put my private plate on the car. It did give me chance to drool some more over the 8C. Upon inspecting the car, the paintwork on the sides was worse than I could have imagined. The car hadn't been prepped when I saw it the week before, so the dirt hid a lot but I should have noticed it more, but the lower sills have gouges out of them, never mind chips
After a bit of umming and arring, Jasons manager agreed to sort it though, so I'll be back down that way at the begining of October.
If they job they did on the front bumper is anything to go by, it should be much better when they're done. I think I'll get some mudflaps installed at the same time, to save future heartache.
I set off home around 5pm, after arriving at 1pm, but five miles or so into my 138 mile journey, I got a puncture
I heard a pop but at the time I thought it was something hitting the passangers side window. Then the steering started gently pulling to the left and I thought I better check it when I could get off the motorway. The next thing I knew, someone was on my left, pointing to my front wheel and I was feeling it being obviously flat, so I tried to get onto the hardshoulder of the M6. Being so close to the dealership still, I rang them and Jason came out with a matching alloy and tyre and changed it over for me
I bet he was sick of the sight of me, he only popped in to do the hand over and ended up dealing with me until after 6pm.
The drive home wasn't as economical as I'd hoped but this morning my commute was done at typical speeds and I got a bit closer to what I expected, I'll see what it's like on the way home. Then I need to actually try and measure it properly by fill ups to get a true reading.
Getting used to the different power band and gearing is half the problem. 6th gear seems useless below 70mph, in my Z4 is was useable from 50mph.
I have a couple of other issues that I'll try and get sorted under warranty too, the rear left light had condensation in it when I collected the car. I pointed this out but was told it would go, which it did, but my fears were correct. There's a water puddle stain in the bottom of the light
This morning the drivers seat was also creeking slightly, at first I thought it was the clutch peddal but it's not and it could get rather irritating.
The stereo isn't the greatest, reception is a little poor and sound quality is probably worse than my Z4 which wasn't known as being great
I need to work out how to retune it, but in the future I think I want to go for the Pioneer unit with Satnav.
The events on Friday did take the shine off a little, but looking at the car does make things better. I think it just needs to grow on me a little, I'm stilling missing my old Z4
