yeah, i always forget that uk is different - only just because you buy convertibles in a country where it rains nonstop
anyway, even here on the local alfa forums, mine was the only red 159 since a few weeks ago when a TBI joined us and we only have one red brera also.
as for the taking apart the car it seems very unlikely. it's more economically viable to send the panels and the body frame to get them painted then assemble the car. that if they really use the maserati paintshop to do it (another thing i find it hard to believe).
"insides" of the car panels aren't painted anyway - just primer - as i noticed when i soundproofed with car with dynamat.
so if you want to paint it another color, or rosso competizione, you have to take off the doors (and strip them down), boot lid, bonnet, bumpers, headlights, rear lights AND windscreen and rear window which most certainly require gaskets to be replaced.
