6K since buying my 159, now theres lovely...
Well, had my Alfa for a few months now, done 6K miles, taking it to a healthy 66K on the lovely red odometer.
Did 1560 miles to and from Southern Brittany last week, didn't skip a beat. Absolutley the best car I have ever taken on such a journey. Cruise control at 130 (kph that is!) and a pretty decent 44.3mpg door to door return over these miles.
The return journey was great, until the wretched French toll roads came to the toll booth, 30 mins queue each time. Ended up missing the 17:00 ferry by 1 minute. Grrr. And that was doing well over 100 (mph this time!) on the last 2 streches of motorway.
As I expected the local boys in blue were watching for Johhny Tourist to be blatting back to make the ferry! Spotted two radar guns with bikes at the ready in bushes, luckily for me I saw them before they saw me. And a huge thanks to the folks flashing notice of a camera taking plates coming down the hill on the last stretch before Bolougne.
So considering the speedy return and a week of driving around the coastal towns of the Quimper region, I was happy with the mpg.
I have run the car on one tank of decent fuel (Shell) followed by two of supermarket.
I have given it an "italian tune" at least once a week.
Took it camping with my mates in north Wales, packed with camp gear and associated drink. Also used it to take my two lads camping with all their kit. Perfect each time, thought I might struggle with the small boot opening, but it swallows a suprising amount.
The front pads are now low, as are the front tyres (on the 16" wheels the tyres have worn perfectly evenly across the tread). The next service is at 72K, with the belt expected at 90K. What is the thinking on having it done at the 72K service? I'm not a great believer in taking it to the wire with regard this kind of thing...
So all in all, love the car. I am saving for a set of 18" wheels and an ecu upgrade, probably next year, early!
Just thought I would drop a note of happyness into the equation.
Will put some photos up this weekend.
A happy Alfa glag-glag driver.
Moved over to the dark side
And loving it
