Surveys are all gibberish and subject to perception in my humble opinion.
You go buy an Audi you expect it to be perfect for the money you spend on it, and are far louder and more likely to complain.
I always was annoyed when I seen reliability surveys with both VW's and Skoda's in the list. Skoda's always score way better than the VW's, and I put it down to 2 things, you spend less on the Skoda, and the type of people who buy them.
You expect the Skoda to be pants because of the reputation that they built up, so when they are as reliable as the reputation that VW built up you are well chuffed.
You also expect the VW to be reliable, modern cars are just so damned complicated that it's near impossible to get them as solid as the Beetles of old.
Passats/Octavias are the same car (they are identical side on), Felicias/Polos are the same car! How can one outperform the other?
That's always been my standpoint in these surveys. Now I'm off to book my Brera back into the garage...
