Right while I was in the US I picked up a pack of red mini
LEDs with the notion of fixing this myself.
To access the encapsulated LED you need to partially remove the door panel
by removing the 1 screw at the lock mechanism end and pulling the panel off
from that end. Then you can remove the screw attaching the LED package to
the door panel and access the lead connectors.
So I pulled the connector, stuck a new LED in the end of the female car-side
connector and armed the alarm:
So now to the strange part:
Looking a the LED side male connector it's a 3 pin connector with only 2 pins.
The two pins are in the wrong place to match up with the car side female connector!!
At some unknown point someone has pulled the connector, pulled
the pins out and put them back wrong!!!
Re-arrange the pins, hooked it all back up and it works perfectly.
So If anyone has a door LED failure it may be because persons
unknown have remove the door panel and changed some pins around
on a connector.
Anyone want any red mini LEDS?
