Just got back, drove the Brera 3.2 this time out, not the 'S' version (drove the Ti 2.4 last time) and came back wondering what all the fuss is about with the ride, handling etc. Both cars are amongst the best I have ever driven (mind you, I've driven some rubbish)
The Brera had the slightly more comfortable seats from mrs. cool's point of view but both were streets ahead of my (admittedly 6 years old) 318i in terms of comfort - I don't find the newer BM's anything like as comfortable either, not even the 5 series.
But the seats in the back of the Brera really are there just to fill the space, they're not really fit for human habitation once they have outgrown a child seat and she wants to be able to take her grandson out weekends, so it's going to be the Ti.
The surprise to me was that the 3.2 really isn't that quick until you have wound it up a bit, and I never thought I would say this as I hate diesels but we're going for the 2.4 which performs well and sounds good too, apart from at idle of course but it's a small price to pay for what seems to be a cracking engine and I will have no problem living with it. Just a case of saving up for another six months or so now, but it will be worth the wait. Very impressed with both cars and the dealer, and I'm not easily impressed. But I am converted.
