5 weeks/2,500 mile in the Ti and nothing's fallen off....
It goes in Monday to sort the wipers which actually make things worse, and the wind noise which seems to come from everywhere. Like every window is 1mm open.
Nasty stone chips already, and have written to supplying dealer registering my concern and that if it deteriorates at this rate I shalll be claiming.
Other than that, nothing. Well, the dashboard zizz but I can live with that. But nowt. No warning lights. No clattering start. Everything works. Engine tight but fine. 31mpg so, OK.
The particulate filter thingy is barely noticeable when it does it's bit. Just a couple of mild hiccups.
How unlike my Golf GTi, which cost £4K more and had been back about 5 times by this stage.
And to my delight, not a rattle or a squeak anywhere. Even up my terrible lanes to work, which give a pounding, BMW-like silence. And it doesn't feel like it's going to. Feels like a rock.
I followed a grey 1.9 Sportwagen Ti 09 plate into Homebase carpark today! Parked next to him and had a good chat. He was pleased, but said it had no pull at all. Struggling for 30mpg and having a new engine management system next week. Finger crossed I feel I may have a good one. Early days.
Thoughts on the engine. Very different from my previous diesels. Turbo lag is much more of a consideration, though unlike other diesels, revs sound great so you keep it on the boil at all times. I am driving it more like a petrol turbo. Takes some getting used to after resisting anything like the upper bands of the rev counter in previous diesels.
It's not to be flicked around like my Golf, Focus or even 3 series BM. I wouldn't call it spritely, and it take more effort to drive quickly than a hatch, but it doesn't pretend to be a sports car.
