I dont think youll get much more than 26mpg if you drive it frugally but let's face it.... you won't. So reckon on between 22-wait for it-15. As for value, like all cars it's going to drop like a stone. Bank on almost 40% in 12 months depending on who you speak to.
Things to consider:
1. Do you like it enough to forgive its thirst and depreciation ?
2. How are you going to pay for it ?
Of all the methods I'd opt for an Alfa Contract hire deal or 3 year plan with a good residual built in and the option to hand it back.
In truth all car ownership is expensive. You will always lose money and its only the degree that varies. One thing I have learnt is never ever pay the asking price. I am certain you could get what you want for under £20,000. The proposed rise in road tax cost of fuel and the deepening credit crunch put's you in a very strong position. Such is the state of the car indistry at the moment and lack of finance available Fiat is bolstering it's sales world wide by underwriting it's own loans just to keep the metal moving.
Best of luck
