Re: Brera S- your opinion?
Having owned a Brera 2.4 JTDM for 2 years, and now in my first year of S-V6 ownership, my opinion is this: The Brera is the most stylish and eye-catching car (let alone Alfa) for many years. The performance and handling of the 2.4 was excellent, and having owned, sworn by (sworn at?) and raced RWD Alfas for many years, this certainly surprised me. Time came to change the first Brera, and my choices were a high-spec 'standard' V6 Brera, or the S-V6. I was disappointed that the S lost its sky-view and didn't have Blue/ME, but after driving both V6 options, I was sold on the S. Didn't notice the missing SV after 5 minutes. Don't miss Bluetooth, as my phone is always in the boot when I'm driving. The handling is definitely an improvement over the non-S and in no-way 'harsh' - Birmingham roads are awful, with pot-holes and speed bumps and it handles them as well as my first Brera did, but out on the road, it is as sure-footed and predictable as the best RWD Alfas are. There really is no deterioration in grip levels, compared to the 4WD V6, unless you are being extremely stupid on ice, or off-road. If the handling of the S had been noticably inferior, I'd have had the 4WD V6, I promise you.
My wife has driven both of my Breras, and she (how should I put it?) is not as adventurous a driver as I am, and she can't tell any difference in the ride or road-holding (she can't tell any difference between the 2.4 JTDM and V6 engines, either!)
I was going to get the sky-view opened up, and forget about a blind, but I honestly don't miss it, so haven't bothered yet.
Each Brera is stunningly attractive, and choice of model can only be a personal thing......These are just my personal opinions of the two that I've had................with photos!
