Please dont throw stones at me but....would suggest german (ouch!!!!).
I have always had an alfa (except a company car mondeo, which was appalling...) never from new, however, all have had money spent on em during ownership.
Now, girlfriend has an A4 1.9 TDI `56 reg. goes like stink. She travels to london and back every week and car is regularly used at weekends.
From new she has not had a single problem and she drives it hard!
just regular services, now done about 85k, or more as I recall. it has a pretty hard life really. Now, if this was an Alfa.........
To get to the point she is changing it in the next few months and asked me what she should get, me thinks `yeah, she could get an Alfa-she likes the style, drive etc-and i could get a more involving drive when we use it at weekends etc. Brera would be good. However, she demands absolute reliability getting to/from work etc without fuss and when she confonted me regarding this I had to agree that an Alfa couldnt be completely relied upon and that the dealers are nowhere near in the same league as Audi/BMW or even Ford for that matter!
Have to say, if it was lower miles or myself doing the buying then it would be Alfa, even good used Maserati-but it aint gonna happen!
My car mileage below 5k (though I do c.50k per year in other vehicles) and Linda`s mileage 50k all in car!
Okay, somebody tell me that they do 60k in thier Alfa with little dosh being spent on it and having no hiccups etc.
Oh and she regularly get 45mpg easily and sometimes much more!
Awaiting to be shot at dawn,
