Re: Update fuel consumption 159 JTDm SW
I am currently struggling to persuade the local stealer that mine is not performing at its best in the fuel economy stakes! The latest visit being Friday.
I have been clocking the mpg constantly over the past few weeks and posted figures on the other mpg thread, But no matter what i try i get no better than 35mpg average (rolling to islands/junctions, down hills, in gear, gentle acceleration and puting the min amount of presure on the fast pedal (very frustrating). If i ignore the display and just drive normally i average 31-33 max, pressing on delivers 29-30mpg at best.... have checked tyre pressures, all obvious stuff with no luck.
When i bought it i used to get 36 - 38 average on nursery run and to work (7 miles/stop/start 40mph ish), without even thinking about what i was doing.
I had a 08 159 saloon as a loan car and i checked the trips and for the same journey to the dealer from home i returned 41.5mpg, 55mph avearge inc a couple of 90mph ish periods on the motorway, which is 90% of my journey to dealer, in my car i averaged 35mpg and that was keeping below 80mph and being gentle.......
I also thought it was much quicker to pick up and felt less sluggish, also checked the loan car trips before i started and both were around 37mpg average.....
Dealer checked a few of the cars they had and said they were in the low 30's too and could not give an answer......
To be fair to the dealer they always treat my moaning seriously and say they look at it and always have an argument against what i think may be the issues, EGR etc..... but end up with the problem not being resolved.
Cars been back and forth to dealer with may issues in the past 12 months, probably averaging once every 6 weeks now.......starting to lose hope!
The car is a March 2007, and also has the wrong steering fluid (another story!)
Thinking of calling ARUK again.....
