David C and others - Geometry.
It is many years since I last subscribed to this forum, but as I am about to take delivery of a 259, 2.4 JTD S/w, I have returned. The tyre wear thread immediately took my attention and I recgognised David C's name and his posts, which are as excellent and objective as ever.
I have read the coments on trye wear and as a generalisation totally endorse the toe settings of parallel front and 3mm toe-in at the rear as a generic setting for a FWD car- if in doubt they will nearly always optimise tyre wear and give reasonable steering response. My hill climb cars, Clio Trophy and now Integra R tend to ruin some toe out at the front, but competition totally invalidates any assessment of tyre wear!
So as to understand the 1259 better, does anyone have the front and rear camber settings?
From a practical point of view is it easy to adjust the toes? I have my own dunlop alignment gauges as well as digital camber gauges.
Similarly is there any way to adjust the cambers? I normally try to run about 1degree negative on the front -without any adverse wear issues.
Are there any other recommendations on the handling front, bearing in mind that I live in Devon where the road surfaces tend to be grim!
Lastly iIrecall that the 156 S/W had load compensating suspension - does this also apply to the 159 S/w.
Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can offer.
