Use it all the time.
It's just a handbrake operated by the brakepedal light switch.
Works every time.
Pity it doesn't work nose down.
Actually mine DOES work nose down! Never really worked out the parameters for nose-down operation though.
Nose-up it works fine and you can include me amongst the owners who find it really useful.
There are similar systems on cars with electric handbrakes - Renault, VW etc.
According to the manual: Page 111
#This system is an integral part of the VDC system and it is provided to facilitate starting on slopes.
Uphill: car at a standstill on a road with a gradient higher than 6%, engine running, clutch and brake pedal depressed, gearbox to neutral or engaged gear other than reverse.
Downhill: car at a standstill on a road with a gradient higher than 6%, engine running, clutch and brake pedal depressed and reverse gear engaged.
At pickup the VDC system control unit will keep a brake force on wheels until reaching the torque suitable for starting, or in any case about 1 second in order to pass easily from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal#
