This happened to me last night for the 2nd time in a month!! I have a 1.9JTDM Lusso, 1st time disconnecting the neg term on the battery and leaving off for 20 mins cured the problem but yesterday it didn't play ball and the car spent the night in my office car park!!! My worry is if my wife is out in the car with my 5 month old daughter and this happens, she'll be left in the hands of the RAC! I have a full Plan A warranty from the dealer I bought the care from 2nd hand but I get the feeling that no garage want to make a claim cause it's a faff!!
Came to work this morning, connected the battery and hey presto it fired into life, great but still not ideal, when will it happen again?? I'm going to call Bauer Millets of Manchester cause my local dealer, Mangoletsi seem intent on just getting your money off you. I called them for advice when it happened the 1st time and Lisa in service reckoned that the only way to sort the car was to tow it in and leave it with them as the codes would need re-setting and this wouldn't be covered under any warranty! Now, you would have thought that a Alfa service specialist and main dealer would have known the old battery trick and what would it have done for building customer relationships to have shared that tip??
I've had issue with Mangoletsi before but won't waffle about that as it's a separate issue, needless to say I have no faith with my local dealer which means I have only Bauer Millet in Manchester and the jury's out on them until I use them, if they get this sorted under warranty I'll be happy of course, oh and the creaky steering, I can live with everything else cause I still love me 159 despite everything!
