I will unfortunately now take ARA to court in order to obtain an outcome that is my statutory right, and not one that I should have to take legal action over.
Since I wrote personally to the MD of ARUK, I received a pleasant letter back from ARUK and I just spoke to the lady dealing with my case and she sounded like she genuinely wanted to help me.
The problem I have now is that there do not seem to be any like for like swaps available, even if I do put some cash in.
At last, I seem to have found someone that wants to help, so I am cautiosly optimistic. It's such a shame that so many Alfa enthusiasts seem to be in such a bad position and AR seem to treat some customers with such contempt.
What Alfa need to remember is that these cars command a premium because they are that little bit different (special). They tend to be bought by enthusiast like me who will come back time and time again. Can they really afford to upset their key customer base?
I really do hope I can get this sorted - if they can sort it now then my next new car will be an Alfa, and probably my next one again. If not I will never ever dare have one again and will always be vocal about my experience.
The number of people who ask me about my car because they're thinking of getting one... they're always so disappointed with what I tell them. I'd love to be able to say "it's great, yes, go buy one". Instead - I usuallly say, "well, you may be lucky, but...". I wonder how many sales AR must lose through these bad experiences.
