Australian Oil Change - how many kms
I know this topic seems to have been thrashed to death, and I realise that all you car LOVERS will change your oil every week if it keeps your motor in pristine condition.
However, I bought this car because my old one was costing me a thousand bucks a year to service, and the salesman told me you only have to service a diesel 159 every 30,000km.
Then later I found out that you still need to change the oil every (i thought) 15,000km
Anyway after 3,000km I took her in for a tightening and they changed the oil.
When I got it back the little Selena sticker on my dash had next service 15,000km scribbled on it.
My car is now at 12,000km and my dash computer says 'change engine oil' when I start her up.
I rang the dealership and they told me this was done on a timer set on the computer, and not because of low levels or anything.
Is the computer timer set by the dealer at service?
Or is it set at the factory?
If the dealer sets it why did they set it 3,000km before the kms they wrote on the sticker?
and more importantly:
ANYONE IN MELBOURNE KNOW A GOOD ALFA/EURO MECHANIC WHO WO'T RIP ME OFF TO CHANGE THE OIL?
