Parked my 159 outside friends house to drop off some late presents.
There was no answer at the door so left package on door step.
I was parked on a t junction on a very quiet road, out of my passenger window up the hill was the good looking front end of a black Alfa GT. The owner was just parking up for the night. I made a telephone call to my friend and left a message to say I had left the presents at the front door.
I did a 180 turn having a good look at the GT about 40m from the T juction where I was turning and headed for home.
5 minutes later I got home and the friend I had just visited was on the phone to say that he heard a loud bang outside his house and when he went outside to investigate he found the Alfa GT smashed into the lamp post outside his house. (Where I had been parked to drop off the presents) It had rolled down the hill, smashed into the kerb and mounted the pavement then hit the lampost with considerable damage to the GT's front end. My friend went up the hill to inform the owners about the runaway GT. I was very lucky as I could have ended up with a runaway black GT hitting my black 159 passenger side at 90 degrees after a 40m roll down a hill. What a strange accident that would have been with two driverless Black Alfa's tangled up on a T junction. I've been having a crap time lately so it is nice to get a break, although I do feel sorry for the GT owner.
Lessons to learn:
1: Deliver your xmas and birthday presents on time.
2: Alway engage hand brake and 1st gear.
3: Beware of admiring Alfa front ends, especially if they decide to come after you.
