1800 rev/min sound

At exactly 1800 revs/mins a loud dull droaning sound comes from the engine and then as the revs increase disappears. This happens in every gear at 1800rev. Does anyone have a clue what it is??

Re: 1800 rev/min sound

Mine does something similar, even though it's a different engine. It seems to do it also at multiples of 900 rpm, though most noticable at 1800. Makes me think it must be a resonant frequency of the exhaust perhaps. Wouldn't call it a loud dull droaning sound though, more like a growl.

Re: 1800 rev/min sound

Hmm, my 2.2 sometimes makes a nice growling sound at about 1800 revs, usually in 6th gear when I'm going slowly (say 30/40 mph) and have just come back onto the throttle after a period of zero throttle coasting. If I change down a couple of gears at that point I don't get the growl, but I'd get much more torque and acceleration with induction noise instead.

So probably a resonance thing with the Brera exhaust then.
