Problem is neither does your 1.8! At least the oil burner gives smiles to the gallon
Better mpg figures from the 2.4 than the 1.8 also!
I know you are dissapointed with the performance, do not deny it!
Good Luck, hope you get all sorted soon.
Im disappointed that i didnt buy an older 3.2 for similar money, but im not disappointed with the 1.8 in itself, i think it gets a hard press, for what it is i.e a 140bhp engine in a 1.4 tonne car; it gives expected performance and keeps up with its 1.8 / 2.0 n/a competitors. Everyone keeps going on about the speed, but totally ignoring that its a great car to drive, its fun, agile, glued to the road, a scooby was on my tale yesterday, i shot over a couple of roundabouts, he spun on the 2nd one, so although his car is immensely more powerful than mine it didn't count for much, my wide tyres, and eibach springs and dampers, and the 159's chasis and wheel setup was better, either that or he had bold tyres or was a poor driver, but i prefer the former explanation. I really like its interior and its features, things like hill holder, lights turning off automatically etc. Also as a VVT you get the best out of it at high revs, the engine also takes a while to wear in, i think this is why a lot of people that test drive it new gain the opinion that its a slug, im dying to test it out against a 1.9 jtd which doesent get similar derision, if anyone with a 1.9 jtd lives in leices and fancys a sprint over a few urban miles let me know..
p.s. the 1.8 has better urban mpg of 26 than the 2.4 which has 24......
