jammed clutch anyone?

lol this one is funny...sort of...

I went to start my car the other day (have got in the habit of dipping the clutch so that I can just touch the starter button and it turns over till the engine starts on its own)

with the engine duly started I engaged first gear to drive off and... nothing... the clutch remained down with my foot flapping in the air!

I looked down to see what was going on when the clutch releasd, I lurched forward and the car stalled... what a muppet...

it turns out the natty little retainers that hold the floor matt in place had given up (they are only plastice threaded pins that are no use to man or beast..)

The matt had moved slowly forward and eventually got close enough to the clutch pedal to jam it

Whilst I felt like a numptie for stalling the car, It could have been worse...

best check your retaining pins

Re: jammed clutch anyone?

Happened to a mate of mine in his wife's Corolla GTi many years ago. He dropped a gear and floored the throttle to overtake someone only to get the throttle padal jammed under the carpet. Nearly wrecked the engine

Re: jammed clutch anyone?

It happens to me all the time , i have to move the floormat backwards from time to time as it slowly moves forward and starts to catch the clutch pedal. Just another funny thing about my 159

Re: jammed clutch anyone?

I've never fixed my mats in the Brera (they stop the seat sliding forward if you do ) and have just gotten into the habit of dragging the mat back every so often with my left foot
