Dealer comment, "I've never seen that on an Alfa before".
I've related in another thread how my 159 was attacked from the rear by a myopic Frenchwoman last month near Chamonix. Significant damage to front & rear bumpers and a sizable insurance claim, so I asked my Alfa dealer, Meridien Bournemouth who they'd recommend to do the repair. I contacted the firm they suggested, a man came over to assess the damage, and while he was looking, he asked if I was having the chrome grille replaced. I looked where he pointed, and inside the vee at the bottom, was a mass of small sharp pimples. He said that he'd mention it to Meridien himself, but said I should also have a word with them to see if everything could be done at the same time, so I paid them a visit yesterday. I saw Rob Stratford the Service Manager, he's been mentioned here several times, and only ever favourably as far as I can remember, and his comment was something along the lines of, "I've never seen one go like that before". And there's more. I gave the car a clean at the weekend, did the wheels in my usual bucket of soapy water and old toothbrush way, and was alarmed to find that the lacquer was peeling off one of the front wheels in sizable chunks, so I pointed this out as well, only to get the same comment, "I've never seen one go like that before". It's early days, but I can't fault Meridien at all, and not for one moment am I questioning Rob's expertise, but am I so unlucky that I've got the only 159 in the UK suffering from these two faults? Rob took a pic of both problems to send to ARUK with the warranty claim, and didn't think there would be a problem fixing things, but has this happened to anyone else here in the first year of their Alfa's life?
