Re: B30 BioDiesel

I remember reading that a Hydrogen car could generate enough power to run an entire street like a mini power station, so then the power stations only make hydrogen and we all power our own houses or streets etc..........?

Honda are already producing hydrogen cars for California are they not?

You have to stop seeing it as "hydrogen". Its not really hydrogen as a fuel, its just a battery that is lighter than lithium-ion batteries and does the same job, using hydrogen and oxygen instead of metal and acid. Hydrogen+oxygen = H20 + electricity. To get the hydrogen back you just add the electricity back into the equation: H20 + electricity = 2 Hydrogens and an Oxygen. Like running your car on battery power, then plugging it into the wall at night. Why struggle on with battery power if hydrogen fuel cells make more sense? Its only really an issue of cost, batteries are currently a lot cheaper than hydrogen fuel cells, but if enough were made (like a lot of batteries are made) the costs would come down dramatically.

But I agree, burning hydrogen in an engine is not an option and is too inefficient. But chemically reacting hydrogen and oxygen together inside a fuel cell to create electricity is a very efficient process, with a lot more energy density than batteries.
