Limp Home Problem - Alfa says nothing wrong
Been having a good read of peoples experiences with 2.4 159's going into "limp home" mode -
I have been hit with the same problem - whereby out of the blue, the engine light comes on with the "have engine checked" warning. (Usually in the fast lane of the motorway!).
However, everytime it happens, by the time I get it to the Alfa dealer, the light has gone out and everything is back to normal.
This is very frustrating as Alfa say they cannot diagnose any fault with the car at all.
My question is: shouldn't the ECU or other keep a record of faults that have occured so they can be picked up when the car is hooked up in the service department? Alfa say there is not a record kept of any engine warnings within the car and that i need to come back when the yellow engine light is on - which is very hard as it tends to reset by the time I get there....!
(by the way, Car is March 06 plate, 45,000 miles and the fault has only just started showing, though I do have all the other woes of poor fuel economy 33mpg at best, and massive flat spot pulling off etc) - Reading about DPF and I guess it is a possible explanation to coincide with more careful driving due to high fuel costs, but it does get its fair share of action
