Yeah, maybe 50cm was a bit of an over estimate, but it was 30-40, but luckily bow wave etc made it all ok, plus I made sure no one was coming the other way, plus the white van 4 cars back had decided waiting patiently to use the middle of the road as everyone came the other way was not for him, overtaken and pushed his way through (nearly flooding the guy coming the other way!) and probably made it shallower. As noted had been 4.5 hours trying to get home, and did not want to sleep in the car... and figured it was possible!
Only land rovers with air suspension, Discovery and range rover have 70cm fording, but have you ever seen 70cm (just over 2ft of water) its a LOT! Still, you can get away with more than that, have a look at the gallery on disco3.co.uk for some land rovers in quite deep!
