Re: "Temporary" Hood Failure?
OK, so we agreed with ARUK we'd go with option 3), although we've yet to receive anything in writing.
Went over to Perrys to collect the car yesterday, they're still not certain the newest set of replacement motors will be any different to before (ie hood will work 5 or 10 times then fail again) but have been told by Alfa head office technicians to return the car as it's "fixed". Haven't yet been able to test it myself due to bad weather but obviously not feeling confident.
To add insult to injury, the offside front wheel had been very badly damaged - deep gouges out of it on the rim and halfway up two spokes, and some pretty significant damage to the tyre. As an interim measure, they took a wheel off the loan car (thank goodness we persevered in getting a like-for-like loan car) to get me home.
Issue is that whereas our wheels were pristine (the car's hardly been driven other than to dealers to have its hood looked at) the loan car has had quite a hard life. So Alfa head office have reluctantly agreed to send someone over on Wednesday with a new wheel and two new tyres - judging by the number of little metal bits on the rims the wheels need a certain amount of balancing, I guess, too?
Is this what they mean by the Alfa experience?
