Re: 159 1.9 JTDm - Miles to the tank
We have a couple of 320D's at work and from talking to the users they are indeed very economical but nothing like as good as the tech spec claims in the BMW's euromix when it comes to real life.
It would still be more economical than a 1.9 159 by the sound of it but again, the differential may be smaller than imagined.
Just adding to that, a mate had a last series 330d saloon as his company car. Much vaunted for its economy and sports car performance.
It went like the clappers but he pointed out that it ate tyres, especially rears, like mad and you only got good mpg driving like your nan. Driven even remotely enthusiastically - including a high proportion of motorway cruising in his case (about 80-ish he reckoned to be his norm) meant he got anywhere between high 20's and mid 30's mpg mostly but it could dip very low indeed if you got busy with the throttle and the gears.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.
2008-15 New 159Ti experience: overwhelmingly positive. Reliable and fun over nearly 100k.
