Both cars are almost identical in spec, except he 2.4 has Bose. This is a minor detraction for me as boot space is a premium, the 70 Litre loss is acceptable, but only just. I'm not an audio man, so bose or not I could not care. So long as Radio 4 and the ipod work I don't really care. Both have the blue and me option, so if I got desperate then I could change speakers and add a sub...I doubt I will as SWMBO has tested the base stero and given it an approving nod for a car system. She's musical and can hear things I don't even know exist in tones and so on
I tend at the moment to get through tyres, what can I say I love grippy tyres and corners
I'm not much of a straight line speed off in to the distance
The mazda is very good on her tyres though, helps only being a tonne and rwd of course
The over priced diesel at the moment really does not help the 2.4's economy, I'm not overly fussed though, I am genuinely concerned at dpf, swirl. But then almost any dpf engine, vag, ford whoever seem to have issues...small turbo petrol cars will come back strong over the next few years.
As both of these are used the premuim of the diesel is roughly £500, 27k miles on an oct 56 plate versus a 07 plate with 4k on the clock.
I'm hoping to borrow the 2.2 for a motorway test, I've only tested them on a short twisty a/lane test, if it's happy cruisng on the m-way and can pull then it's in with a chance. I can wind it up on an A-Road and it's acceptable, not quick, but it's a GT not a jap turbo nutter mobile. The poorer braking can be fixed with pads and a autodelta remap should give some much needed torque.
