The boss has nipped out again, so whilst the cat's away........
So far, I'm well impressed although it hasn't been without some dramas. During the first month of ownership, I've spent almost as much time running around in a 147 'loaner' from Western as I have in the 159.
It broke down 7 miles after I collected it, which isn't the most auspicious start
The ink wasn't even dry on the paperwork and I was calling on the AA.
Turned out to be a fault in the inlet manifold which required replacing with a modified unit.
Then a few days after I got it back from that repair, (and the first really cold morning that we've had this autumn) I discovered that the heater only blew out cold air
So back to Western for a replacement heater unit.
Thank heavens for the warranty, that's all I can say.
Since then, touch wood,
no more disasters - just as well as I think Western were going to offer me a bed if I went back to them again. Having said that, what a different experience in terms of customer service when compared to what we went through with Arnold's mob when we had the timing belt issue with Jennifer's 147 at the start of the year.
Technical issues aside, the difference between the 156 and the 159 are like night and day, aren't they? Alfa really seem to have turned up the quality wick - no rattles, no squeaks, nothing fallen off (so far
) and the 2.4 diesel has got some 'get up and go' once you get it moving. Yep, a lifelong (you'll never catch me in an oil-burner)petrolhead is converted!
