I would like to thank all the 159 2.4 owners for settling my mind into not getting a 159 diesel. I currently have a 156 2.4 sportwagon and apart from a few problems to start with it has run like a train for 24,000 miles and returns 40mpg and I don't hang around. I have never owned an Alfa before and di quite a bit of research before buying. With the 159 there are a load of problems simply, in my opinion, because Alfa are trying too hard to "keep up with the Jones'", BMW and other german manufacturers for example. I was a BMW man beforer deciding to buy an Alfa and they go wrong too and are a whole lot more expensive to fix. The reliability of all cars is suspect these days and anyone who buys a brand new Alfa will find teething problems but check other club websites and you will find that they are the same, no one manufacturer is 100% certain to give satisfaction no matter what they claim. The only thing about my particular OLD oil burner is the drivability, it's a whole lot of fun to drive, it feels like I'm wearing it, I call it the "elastic car" as it seems to curl itself around the corners and comes out sprong loaded on the straight bits!
