I agree the Alfa JTD is not the best but compared to the rest of the range for consumption and running costs its not bad, I know Audi are better and the TT and A5 Sport 2.0TFSI are my next test drives.
Anyway just got back from my drive in the S and I have to say I liked it, OK the 2.2 is a bit weak, the car only had 500 miles on it so it will likely improve but it sounded good, nice growl from the exhaust, steering was responsive, I fit in now there is no blind
the seats aren't really that good, the base is better but the side support is nowhere near as good as the GT (or my Scenic
Couldn't really fit my daughter in with seat and isofix base though which was a bit of a blackmark but she won't need to go in much only in rare occasions so I could manage, as she was in the car i couldn't push it too much but it was very positive decent body control, damped well enough for the bumpy UK country roads IMO, sure it was firm and not as much of a comfy cruiser but its not as bad as some are saying in this thread, the original Brera IMO was a disappointment, this was my kind of car, shame the engine wasn't a bit stronger but it was still entertaining when you rung the nuts off of it
can certainly see the potential is a bit more realized now, unfortunately I still don't reckon it would see which way a GT Q2 went out of the corners as unfortunately the power is cut flooring it out of the bends with low traction whereas the GT would just fire out and be gone.
I'd still have the S over a GT though, looks good and goes well
