So just to round this off, the V50 is cheaper and more practical than the 159, and the 2.4 Volvo engine is nicer than the 1.9 Alfa.
But I decided I actually wanted a 159 Lusso, carbonio black, red leather, 18" horseshoes.
However it looked to be a bit of a struggle to get that spec without waiting for a factory order, so:
I should be picking up my new 159 ti 1.9 Sportwagon, red with black leather, on Saturday. All being well.
I feel a bit of a fraud, having the sportiest looking trim with the little tiddly, tinkly 1.9 diesel, but I'll get over it.
Bought it from Chris as Western in the end - they wanted a little bit more money than Piccadilly, but I had to weigh up the savings against the convenience and the ongoing relationship with Western.
If anyone is looking for a new Alfa, though, I'd thoroughly
recommend speaking to David Whitton at Piccadilly. I found him very helpful, very quick to respond, and he comes over as a nice guy.
Now I just have to move my GTV
to make a space on the drive...
