Four days in another Spider LE well and truly broke
After sympathising with JUS101 over his troubles with the Spider hood I came to lower the hood on mine this morning only for a message to appear on the dash saying the operation was incomplete despite it appearing to have lowered properly. Assuming a problem I raised it with the intention of lowering it again. Unfortunately that's as far as I got, it threequartered closed with the panel still partly raised, the sign on the dash saying temporary hood fault and the handbook telling me to refer to dealer.
It is now back at Budgens in Shrewsbury and I'm back in my old Brera - soft top motoring for me was shortlived. Seemingly it's a problem with the left hand actuator (Ithink).
I hope this isn't a weakness of all Spiders, smacks to me of hasty assembly, poor componentry or lack of testing. This was only the third time hood had been raised. All very well for Alfa to criticise poor dealer service, if the product was right in the first instance.... a case of the pot calling the kettle black!
