I'm a newbie on here and I've been reading this thread with great interest.
I'm currently in the market for a new car to replace my current Seat Leon Cupra R 225 and due to doing more work mileage than before I need to go diesel
I'm very interested in the Alfa 159 2.4 JTDm (210) TI saloon
but like many on here this thread has been somewhat off-putting... I think the cars are stunning and I know I could live with a few niggles along the way (after all how many cars are perfect thesedays?) but the tyre wear thing and the fuel consumption could make this stunning car a rather unrealistic dream.....
Except, I've recently stumbled across the websites of some Alfa tuners who will do a DPF bypass, EGR disable & remap
that will bring the car's performance and economy into a different league!
I've seen quotes for £600 for the remap & DPF bypass pipe doing, which sounds pretty reasonable. Does anyone know if it costs any more to have the EGR deleted/bypassed too or is this just part of the remap?
Also, how well does the chassis cope with 260bhp and 350lb/ft of torque going through the front wheels?
Has anyone also measured the approximate acceleration times on a remapped car and compared them to standard? I ask this because this really could sway me away from a BMW 330d M-Sport that I am also sorely tempted by...
