AR claimed figures for a 2004 156 Ti 2.4 20vJTDm and a 2008 159 Ti 2.4 20v JTDm are quite close and give the difference you'd expect for the weight increase of 200kg(approx) but , if I understand correctly the 156 owners are getting claimed figures and we are not ?
Yes we do have the extra 30bhp etc but in all honesty I would only expect extra power like that to 'cripple' economy if the car was driven with a lead foot.
It seems virtually impossible to accelerate in this car without economy of <14mpg and so strangely its better to accelerate fairly hard and develop a ballerinas foot for 'cruising'. Driving as you would for economy in a petrol engined car will result in less economy and a far more 'boring' drive. Also gear selection seems massively more important in a modern diesel than a 'traditional' one , any acceleration attempts at less than 1750rpm are economy killers.
