OK , time to add my data to this interesting thread
Yesterday (Day 4 of ownership and still trying to find excuses to go out somewhere lol) I reset the trips at the local supermarket and drove home. The journey is about 20 kilometers (12miles) nice and flat with a few bends and 1 village to navigate through the middle of.
Used the cruise control throughout set to 80kph(50mph) with the exception of the village.
By the time I got home the trip seemed to have settled out after the reset to 7.7l/100km (35mpg) which I assume to be fairly good ??
This is my first diesel ever so still 'learning' how to drive it properly , seems to me that (compared to petrol) they seem to be more economical for the most part but a lot lot more thirsty when pulling off or accelerating (even gently) ?
One of the things that 'concerns' me about this thread is that driving style is a massive factor on any cars economy figures. I have only been in the diesel club for 4 days so far but, feel like I have to completely relearn how to drive to make the most of my new favourite toy.
As for the positive comments requested (or rather the lack of them Fraser mentioned) , here's one for you. First Alfa , first diesel , great car ! I have owned and driven some truely awesome cars and now with this Alfa I have only 2 tiny nags (cant find the ODB2 port and car mic can hear me as well as i would like) both of which are utterly insignificant
Spent 6 months finding the right 'new car' for me and glad I did.
Remap next which hopefully will increase power and either maintain or improve MPG
