Re: 159JTD still struggling uphills
I ended up using some diesel additive (Nulon) which I think is an Australian product. After a few tanks the problem just went away and the car hasn't spluttered for around a month now. I now just put in the additive with every few fill-ups, as there has been some advice on this site that we shouldn't put any additives (not even superdiesels) into the tank as they might stuff up the DPF.
I wonder whether the JTD engine is better suited to longer driving rather than the city stuff. I have read that the injectors are more prone to clogging with repeated starts/stops of the engine if you are taking only short, frequent trips. Certainly on the rare occasions when I go for a long (300km) drive the engine seems much better for it.
Anyhow that is as far as I have got with the problem, and I searched this site and the net pretty widely. I'm glad things seem to have sorted out for my car as I was contemplating just getting rid of it and buying sonething more, er, reliable. Very happy with the car now and I hope yours gets sorted. I'd be interested to hear how you go.
