I get a consistant 27-29 out of my 2.2JTS, which is pretty poor
but in comparison to the 2.4 diesel its good.
I do a brim to brim check every time I fill up. If I could get 34mpg I would be jumping for joy,
I did get 34mpg once driving for 60 miles at 50mph.
I drive a round trip to work every day of 60 miles, comprising of 30 A/B roads and 30 miles Mway, but on the motorway I drive at 65/70 which is sh*te when all my life I would drive on Mway at 80/85.
I wish I could drive this car at 80/85 but it would be too costly.
IMHO all Alfa's are sh*t for fuel economy apart from the 1.9 diesel and if Alfa don't start bring out some more fuel efficent engines in the near future they will deserve to lose sales.
Fuel economy and emissions is getting to be a serious and costly business in this country and IMHO I don't care what amount of torque you get out of the 2.4 diesel if it only does 32mpg then in my eyes its crap, but you can say that about the majority of Alfa engines if we are talking economy (which is what I'm talking about here)
Alfa are seriously lagging behind Audi/BMW in engine delevopment, I know there is Fiat/Alfa design of twin turbo diesel in the Saab but when are we going to get it in an Alfa? I heard 2010 mentioned but that is way, way too far away.
