If this car was bought from an Alfa franchised dealer as an Alfa Approved used car, yet they hadn't inspected the car sufficiently to spot a major report or faulty ABS, then you should be livid!
My first port of call would be the dealer principal, my second would be a letter sent by courier to Alfa UK with the dealer principal being copied in. Get Alfa UK involved, customer service is their biggest problem, both in real experience and the potential buyers' perception of the brand.
Get stuck in, get all your money back. You'll probably have to agree a sum for the repair caused by your incident but that's just bad luck that you can't do anything about. The key thing is to get 99% of that £30k back.
