Re: Aggghhhhhh more DPF problems
I think I have the same problem to you in a 159 2.4 JTDm. I posted this yesterday and have had a bit of feedback. What I find is that the engine occasionally coughs and splutters going uphill at around 1500rpm, and loses power. It doesn't give way completely but has stalled once or twice. I notice on the tacho when this happens at idle the revs aren't stable, they oscillate from 750-850 every second or so. I've taken it back to the Alfa service centre several times and had no real success, although a diesel fuel cleaner seems to work. I contacted another Alfa service centre that I know well from my last 156, and they had a 159 diesel in their workshop for about a week. They witnessed the problem (which is good because the problem is very intermittent), but couldn't figure out what it was. They did say that I shouldn't be putting any additives into the tank though as it can theoretically damage the DPF, and the DPF anyway is supposed to filter all that crud out. Not really sure what the next step should be. I reckon if they can't fix these things after 6 months they should just replace the engine!
