Re: Reliability: breakdowns vs. niggles?

Cheers everyone - to be honest, it's mainly my "sensible" hat (and my sensible wife) that is prompting these questions - the decision has been taken, now it's just a case of making the sums work!

The eternal struggle between price, mileage (or new) and spec. continues, writ small in my own little drama

there are plenty of relatively low mileage examples out there..between 10000 and 15000 miles..prices range from 16000 to 19000 grand

Re: Reliability: breakdowns vs. niggles?

I've got the 2.2 not the 2.4, but build quality is excellent and it's never broken down. Had a loose sensor once and slightly wrong alignment on passenger window, nothing that stopped the car. It's at 8500 miles now, all niggles worked out in the first couple of months, now it is solid as hell and just gets faster and faster. It's definitely better built and possibly more reliable than the 2 x BMW 3 series in our families. Go for it.

Re: Reliability: breakdowns vs. niggles?

Bought mine Nov 07 with 18K, from Variava. Car was Aug 06 registered. Problems to date, which have all been sorted under warranty, inlet manifold ( kept going into limp mode ), alarm sensors, rocking driver's seat, power steering fluid change.

Make sure all the above are sorted before buying and you won't regret it. 10K miles in mine in five months and reliable, comfortable, practical, not to mention stunning to look at it, especially in Misano blue.
